Two girls. One mountain. One fundraiser. Your chance to help prevent child abuse.
Your donation goes to the Sacramento Children's Home Family Resource Centers.
Brittany and Kate first met as coworkers at the Valley Hi Family Resource Center, and quickly realized two passions they share -- the outdoors and social services. At a family resource center operated by the Sacramento Children's Home, Kate and Brittany work with a team to provide parent education and community resources in an effort to end child abuse. Last summer, while summiting the highest mountain in the contiguous US, Brittany and Kate found themselves sharing with others on the trail the work that they do. It was then that they realized there was a way to combine the two passions, and raise money for the Sacramento Children's Home while taking on their next adventure -- summiting Mt Shasta.
Since 1867 the Sacramento Children's home has been a great champion for the health and well-being of children and families in the Sacramento area, with three Family Resource Centers (FRC's) placed strategically in the North and South areas of Sacramento. The three FRC's are North Sacramento FRC, the Valley Hi FRC, and the Meadowview FRC. All three Family Resource Centers feature home visitation through the Birth and Beyond program. The FRC also provides court approved parenting classes, parent educational classes, parent child interaction, Intervention services, School readiness, and numerous events free of charge to all families of the surrounding community.
The Sacramento Children's Home provides the community with so many other great programs like the Crisis Nurseries, youth counseling, wraparound services, and transition programs. If you want to learn more, check out their website: www.kidshome.org
